You are so not odd. You are awesome. This rings so true. And can I say, since I have had all of these comments written or said to me, BINGO!!!
February 22, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Oh Weaver you left one out, “your mother was a prostitute” I heard that ALL the time…and guess what, she’s actually an accountant. I love your bingo :o))

BLACKOUT!!!!!
Some ignorant people think it’s “odd” to get a dose of reality, so labeling you as “odd” makes them feel superior. The scapegoat mechanism is alive and well, especially when it comes to the realities of adoption.
Hey, anonymous….Is she also “angry”, “ungrateful”, “crazy”, or perhaps a “stalker”, or needs “prayer”??? I have an idea…pull your head out of your @ss and get a breath of fresh air.
February 22, 2010 at 4:20 pm
lol, yeah I’m sure anon is “praying that I find peace”

Weaver, I just recently started reading your blog and I have to agree that you do seem different (aka “odd”) but in a most complimentary way. Weaving community is a wonderful way to express what you’re after. Plus you have a sense of humor and you’re creative. Hope I didn’t squirt any lemon juice in your eye with optimism.

Thankyou. I think I am odd, partly because of my experiences with adoption but like you suggest being odd isn’t always a bad thing. I’m glad my sense of humopur and my creativity come through on this blog, sometimes I wonder that it’s too grim reading.

Love it. May I print it out for the next family reunion?

If this was real bingo and I got a chip for every time I heard one of those phrases, I would be a billionaire from all the bingo money I’d win. Sadly, instead of receiving because of those comments, I end up losing. I lose hope that society will ever one day stop telling ME how to feel about MY OWN adoption and instead be quiet and listen.
I’ve been told my entire life how to feel about adoption and being adopted. Strangely enough, none of the “tellers” were adopted themselves.

god yes so much this, sometimes I just have to walk away because talking about adoption in this climate is such hard work

Totally. Totally, totally.
It never ends.
